Yesterday was a big day for sightseeing in Sydney.
Started out the day by going to an Australian Grocery store. Mostly the same as the U.S. except that it was inside a mall.
After cooking breakfast, we headed to Darling Harbour and got to see Sydney's Central Business District for the first time.

We then walked over to Hyde Park and toured the Hyde Park Barracks. Learned that many convicts were transported to NSW, which used to be a penal colony of the British Empire.
We headed over to the Royal Botanic Gardens and I couldn't get over how lush it was in the heart of the city.

We then walked along the water to finally see the Sydney Opera House. It was so surreal to see this in person. We were shocked by the materials- from afar it looks white but it's actually covered with tiles that look like they would be in a pool.

After walking around the opera house, we headed to Circular Quay to catch a ferry to the Taronga Zoo. We're not usually Zoo people but we had heard about the unique animals in Australia and wanted to see some of them up close. Best. Decision.Ever!!
Seeing Koalas for the first time definitely took the top spot in our minds. Did you know they sleep 20 hours a day? Naturally, that makes Will and I like them more!
It was a very interactive zoo with a lot of exhibits that allowed us to be with animals without any gates between us, including the Kangaroos!

We headed back over to Sydney on the ferry and went to grab dinner and beers in The Rocks neighborhood.
Loving every second so far but my feet hurt!
